 Statement of general aims

The Société du Havre de Montréal is seeking to develop the widest possible consensus around a strategy aiming to:

• take advantage of the harbourfront's full potential as an urban habitat
• strengthen the recreational, cultural and tourism vocations of the harbourfront
• keep in mind the needs of the industrial/port sector
• integrate the heritage dimension into harbourfront planning
• give the St. Lawrence and its banks back to Montrealers, by improving access to the harbourfront

So that:

• the harbourfront will become one of the main engines of the Montréal economy once again
• Montréal will again be a city turned as much toward the St. Lawrence as toward Mount Royal.
